I won't stop trying

I failed miserably at blogging at least 4 times a week. I failed to even blog once this week but hey...I won't stop trying!! This weeks news:
~hubby had a birthday...you don't even want to know so don't ask!! Let me just say this...the smoke detectors almost went off.
~It rained. And it rained. And it rained. Then, it flooded. Now it's beautiful again...for a few days at least.
~I got a new cell phone (same #)...it's pink and really cute.
~Jarom (my 3 year old) has NEVER wet the bed...so when he woke up wet the other day I said "Jarom, did you wet the bed?" to which he replied "uh, No mama, the bed wet me!!" So stinkin' cute!! How do you get mad at that?!

Offensive MVP

We had Justins football banquet on Monday night...potluck style. So the menu consisted of some fried chicken, pizza, lots of lasagnas, someone cooked a ham, someone else tried to make enchiladas but they looked a little dry and cracked and bit like cardboard so I didn't have any. Then of course we had potato salad, pasta salad, watergate salad...all kinds of hodge podge. It's a good thing my Soupa-Star was recognized otherwise it wouldn't have been a very memorable night. So let me get on with my bragging so that I can go make myself some breakfast!

Justin Andrew Wright, son of Steven and Julie Wright is the Offensive MVP of the year! Scoring 114 points out of the 266 total points scored this season with an average of 12.7 points per game, he rushed 146 times and ran the ball 1161 yards!! He made 16 Rushing Touchdowns and 1 Receiving touchdown, 4 - 2 point conversions, and 4 successful kicks out of 6 tries! And lastly, he made his mama proud!! So you can see how recognition made the night worth it...I'll get over the trauma of the food soon enough. We love you Justin!! Good job!

Only in Arizona

Imagine if you will, dropping your child off across the street from her school. Many other children are being dropped off at the same time and there are children walking from every direction to the school entrance. As you sit there waiting for traffic to move, you are watching your daughter and her friend at the crosswalk when all of the sudden, from the corner of your eye you see an animal of some sort running thru all of the children. Actually, he's not so much running, as he is trotting...happily, I might add. When upon taking a closer look you discover this animal is none other than a WILD, HUNGRY, probably RABID COYOTE!!
What would you do?
I just sat there in amazement and prayed that mine wouldn't be the child trying to pet it. She wasn't.

right there on my sofa

Tonight, as I was watching Texas get slaughtered by Bama Jarom decided he wanted to cuddle with me. And with those beautiful little eyes of his, he looked up at me, kissed my cheek and said, "mama, you're a good mom!".
And right there on my sofa...I melted.

effulgent

Last Sunday, while being ever so attentive at church, I took notice of the song we were singing. There within the lyrics of that hymn lied a word that I was unfamiliar with. Now I know some of you may think less of me when I tell you what the word is but at that point I decided I would write down at least one word a week during my Sunday meetings and get the proper definition. I actually wrote 3 down last Sunday but tonight I will share with you the word that started it all. And that word is:
effulgent - shining, resplendent, with radiant splendor.
What did you learn last week?

I resolve to

Here I am on this 1st day of the first month of the new decade trying to come up with some sensible resolutions. I usually do pretty well...til about March. So tonight as I sit here listening to my hubby snore, I resolve to:
~go to bed earlier...especially on school nights...by midnight for sure.
~drink less soda (to help w/ prior resolution) and eventually wean myself from my daily addiction.
~drink more water...it does a body good
~read at least 8 books this year...I know that doesn't sound like a lot to some but for me it's plenty...I read 6 last year and was feeling quite accomplished and rather "smart".
~and finally, to blog at least 4 times a week...even if it is rambling that no one but myself cares about.
And you...How many books did you read last year? You thought I was going to ask what your resolution was, didn't you?
