sad

Tonight I went to drop Justin off at one of his friends house in our old neighborhood. While there I drove past a group of kids who just happened to be friends with my oldest son when we lived there and he wasn't too cool for them. I pulled up and yelled (and I yell very loud) "Hey Matt, what are you guys doing?!!" To which he mumbled with his teeth together and his lips barely moving "I'm on a date, you're not supposed to be here!" So I said "sorry, gosh!! I was just in the neighborhood and happy to see you" and then I yelled even louder "Hey Adam!! It's sister Wright!!" Adam looked my way, got all excited and came to the car. "How are you?" he asked and before I could answer he said "how's Josh?!". "Oh, he's good..working a couple of jobs and just living life". "Is he still getting married? When?" "yep, and sometime after December". He got kinda sad and said "well, tell him we said hi". "I will...it was great seeing you guys...bye" I said. And then I drove off....feeling very sad inside. It was just less than 2 years ago that my son was hanging with these kids and enjoying life. And while they are still living the innocent life of having a curfew, borrowing mom and dads car and dating, my son is trying to grow up all too fast. He has his own place, getting ready to get married, and struggling to make ends meet. How I just wished he would have taken the easy route...the route he's going to wish he took 20 years from now. As much as I love him and his fiancee Julia, I feel they are both kids...they both have a lot of growing up to do, a lot of life to live. They could both be doing what I saw tonight. And I want that for both of them. But they won't...and that makes me very, very sad.

So I was going thru some pics on my computer this evening and decided that I have given birth to one of THE CUTEST kids in the world!!

Then I found this and thought "okay 2 of the cutest kids in the world"Wait...there's a 3rd!! Could it be??? More than 3!!

So, If I live in Arizona, am I allowed to complain about the weather? Because I am freakin' FREEZING!! I swear it was just 80 degrees a couple of days ago...I woke up this morning and it was 39 degrees. What is this world coming to?!

In other news, Josh came over tonight. Our conversation was as follows...
Mom, I sold my camera.

Ummm, excuse me?!! You did not just say what I think you said!!

I sold my camera...I don't know why you're getting mad. You didn't buy it for me.

I don't care if I bought it for you or not!! Why in the heck would you sell a camera that you paid X amount of dollars for?!

I needed the money...I'm poor. But I brought you this (as he pulls out a lens that I've really been wanting AND a flash).

Not 10 minutes later we begin talking about his wedding.

Don't you just love Julia mom?

Yes son, I do. She's great. I just hope you guys aren't making a mistake getting married this young.

Mom, you know I've always tried to grow up faster than I should.

Exactly!! But this time, there's no turning back son...just make sure it is what you really want.

It is mom...I've loved Julia for years. And I don't care what anyone says..we ARE getting married!!

Young Love

Long ago, when we decided to move to this desert they call Mesa, we were in the Eastridge ward. We were one of 3 families that were new to the ward. And all 3 families had kids that were going into 8th grade. Josh became really good friends with one of them. Her name is Julia. I was her moms visiting teacher and I just fell in love with both Julia and her mom. We moved away from that ward 3 years ago and Josh and Julia have stayed in touch. Never dating, always just claiming to be "best friends". Well, when Josh was away at boot camp he called me one night and told me that he thought he was going to ask Julia out when he got home. I told him that I didn't think it would be a good idea because once you date you can never go back to being "just friends". And as he always has, he ignored my advice and dated her anyways. They have been inseperable since the night he got home. I have always liked Julia...she is sweet, fun, and moral. And she wears her young womens medallion with pride. I figured since it has been almost 3 months, I would post a pic of the 2 of them. They are just really cute together. Ahhh, young love!! Remember that?
