Just what I wanted my son to hear

So today we were sitting at the breakfast table...Steve, Jarom and I. I gave Steve 2 hard-boiled eggs. As he peeled them:

Steve: mmmmm, I can't wait until Easter

Jarom: (laughing) you have to sit on the Easter bunny's lap

Steve: No I don't

Me: Jarom saw the Easter bunny at the mall the other day...he opted NOT to sit on the Easter bunny's lap

Steve: good choice Jarom, Easter bunnies are pedophiles!! Why do you think they always have such a huge smile on their faces?

updates

Such a loser I am!! I can't believe it's been months since I last posted. SO much has gone on!! I don't even know where to begin. In December Steph was in the hospital for her asthma...poor baby didn't get out until Christmas Eve. But what a wonderful Christmas gift that was! I spent my last holiday with my great friend Vicky, she passed away the day after Christmas. We loved her so much and she will be deeply missed. Football has started for the Jared again, Justin and Steph are in track, I'm trying out for the biggest loser...again. Steph had her birthday, Steve had a birthday and scored an awesome authentic spurs warmup jacket I had a birthday (got a blood transfusion for my birthday...and another one 3 days later) AND last but not least...Josh got married!! That's right...my baby got married! Can you believe it?!We bought our final home!! With a little help. Never again will we move until Jarom is out of high school. We moved the tremendous distance of right next door. And we LOVE this house!! All are welcome whenever you'd like. We just recently filled the pool and it looks GREAT!! Prior owners didn't keep it up while it was on the market. Here's the kids draining it and pressure washing it...and skating in it when it was empty...cause that's what boys do (as I was informed). So much more to tell...SO many more pics to post...but I am drained and exhausted...just got out of the hospital. Will post more soon. Much love to you guys...hope people even see this post...It's been so long since I've posted I don't know that anyone checks it anymore.

Wow!

Wow!! Where has time gone? Since I last posted, we've moved (a mile away and just for 2 months), Justin lacerated his kidney(4 days after we moved) (5 days in the hospital and a $20,124 helicopter bill), hubby started his business back up (going well), Halloween happened (Jaroms still wearing his costume and claims he's Iron Man), Thanksgiving happened (so much to be thankful for), and Black Friday...ohhh, black Friday!! How I love Black Friday. It gives me a rush like none other!! The crowds, the deals, the sleepless night...such a high! Wow!!

shoes and socks

I find it very suspicious how you can put a PAIR of socks in the washer but when the load comes out of the dryer the pair has gone their seperate ways and only one lonely sock makes its way back to you. I have a basket where I keep all of those lonely socks. There they sit until their mate decides to find its way out of the dryer. Sometimes that's an hour until the next load comes out and sometimes thats a week. But here lately we haven't done very good at matching those socks up right away. Needless to say it made for an abundance of "unmatched" socks in the basket. So last week I decided I would finally match them all up. Wowza!! Who knew we owned that many socks?! Not I! I matched 58 pairs...and, of course, there were still some stragglers waiting for their mates to return. Needless to say, our drawers were overflowing and the kids were happy because they didn't have to do the matching. I didn't think to take a picture until it was too late and they were already put away. That night though, as I made my way upstairs to bed, it was like going thru a maze trying not to step on all of the shoes my family had left all over. So I thought I would be nice and pick them up (and take a picture if need be)...I mean, how long could it take. So I walked the whole downstairs and in 3 minutes I picked up all of these...

18 pairs of shoes!! And 2 without their mates. Is that not the most ridiculous thing you've heard? I was so bloomin' mad. I left them there til morning, woke the kids up an hour early, made them put all of their shoes away, put all of their folded clothes away, sweep, and clean the kitchen...which must of cured them because the house has been clean ever since!

Yard Sales and Bunco

As of today, when one enters my home, they will encounter this in the entryway... Isn't she a beauty? I bought her today for...wait for it...wait for it...10 bucks!! So the table and everything on it cost me a total of 20 bucks!! Is that awesome or what? All yard sale purchases.
The following is a picture of what I like to call my washboard wall. This whole wall including the mirrors was $5. I paid a buck for each of the mirrors which were a horrible orange (but black paint makes the world a better place) and $3 for the 2 small washboards. The big one is actually the washboard my grandma washed my moms clothes on. Pretty cool huh? If you happen upon an unwanted washboard please send it my way!
This wall was $4.98...thats what I paid for the 2 gold plates and the red sign was a bunco win made by one of the ladies in the bunco group.
This, too was also a bunco win made by the same lady!! It sets on one side of my piano and brings me much happiness. I do not know yet what will go there when the 4th of July has come and gone but I'm sure I'll think of something.
On the other side of my piano sits my most treasured purchase of the day...Vogues book of Etiquette. I paid a whoppin 25 cents for it and I can't get enough of it!! This book was purchased new by the lady I bought it from about 50 or 60 years ago. It was printed in 1948 and is full of helpful hints for men and women on etiquette. Quite interesting!! I plan never to part with this little treasure!! Look at the binding!! So worn and old...I love it!! And here is a sampling of what you will find inside of her. Click on the picture to be able to read the excerpt.
Yard Sales and Bunco...2 of my favorite things!!

blah blah blah-g

It seems I'm in a blah-ging funk lateley. As much as I want to share my thoughts and opinions with others I just can't fit the time in lately nor can I figure out what to write when I sit down at this desk.
Mine is an event filled life. With 5 kids and hubby that acts like one my life is never boring. However lately, the exciting events in my life have been out of their control.
We'll start first with a piece of mail that I received on my birthday. From the window of the envelope it appeared this piece of mail was a check. "Noone owes me money" I thought to myself as I eagerly tore this envelope open with high hopes. Sure enough, there was a check in the envelope written out to me in the amount of $187 and some change. This check was from my insurance company and the letter attached simply stated that back in 2003 I paid a deductible to have my car repaired when I was hit by non other than an uninsured motorist. Well, 6 years later, they collected all monies from this chump and gave me my cut. Awesome!! I had totally even forgotten I paid that deductible.
That weekend, on Sunday, I told the kids the house needed to be spotless at ALL times. "I have a funny feeling your dad's going to surprise us this week and come home without telling us he's on his way" I told them. Sure enough, late that night, or shall I say early Monday morning he walked thru the door. The kids were so happy to find him here when they got up.
The following Monday, which was this past Monday, I receive another piece of mail. Only this time, it did not appear to be a check. It appeared to be some sort of a complaint against me as I saw what read "complaint # and complaint date". I was just as eager to open this one as I am short fused and wanted to know who's house I should egg (lol...just kidding...wait, no I'm not). Upon opening this envelope I found that my neighbors (anonymous of course) made a complaint because my dogs are "always barking". Ever so pissed, I called animal control. I was told that they were told my dogs bark late at night and that they are often left unattended. "This is false" I told her. My dogs sleep in the house every night. They are brought in at 9 and not let out until 8. One of the dogs (who we already received a complaint on) wears a shock collar all day. Which I, by the way, think is torture. Turns out it is the same neighbor that made the last complaint and pretty much, in the city of Mesa, if your dog barks even once and your neighbors don't like it, they can complain. So, if the jerks complain again, I will be fined up to $2500 and if I can't afford to pay it or refuse I will be imprisoned for up to 6 months. And since I will not pay it because my neighbor is a jerk I am hoping that you will all come and visit me in tent city....Please?!? Tell me you'll be there!! Tell me you'll visit me!!
Lastly, the Santa Rita Senoritas (my softball team) kicked bootie this week at our first ever softball game. Thats right...we won 24-2. Then when another team didn't show up for the next game we were asked to play another game so that the team that did show up would get to play. Yeah, we beat them too...11-5!! So, I am making a plea...we need a cheering squad....we need fans!! Please come and watch us!! I promise we will keep you entertained!!! Last game, we had 2 women fall and I freaked out over a bug in the field so the 3rd baseman had to come kill it for me...the 4 fans that were there loved all this excitement. Pupupuplease come!!

all my happenings

It's been a while since I last posted. I have been so extremely busy.
First, Jared started flag football. He's never played flag before. He did tackle last fall and didn't really like it so we decided on flag this year. He loves it!!
Second, I started playing softball with the RS. Yeah, we're awesome!! At least, in our eyes, we are. And thats all that really matters....right?
Third, my parents have been in town. I love when my parents come to town. That familiar scent of coffee brewing in the air, laundry always going and Mexican food cooking on the stove. Just reminds me of when I was a kid. And what a sweet childhood I had.
And last, my dear sweet hubby is out of town...has been for a while now...will be for a while longer. and oh, how lonely I am!!...Even with ALL the chitlins running around.

Pizza at the Wrights

After church today, which I LOVED, we rushed home to make pizza. The kids were looking forward to it all weekend. Costco sells these yummy, whole wheat and flax flatbread or pita bread, whatever you want to call it. Anyways, we thought we would try to make pizza on it. It was so good!! And the kids had a blast making it.Actually, I don't know if the kids had more fun or if Steve did. Either way, it was time well spent as a family.
Afterwards, my brother Mark stopped by and brought me some goodies from Texas. Oh, how I love getting goodies!!
Then Josh and Julia stopped by...I love them!! They are both just so cute!! But if they make me a grandma in the next 2 years, I may have to hurt them...married or not!! I am too young to be called granny!!

only in the Wright house...

The day started out as all other Saturdays do. I got up early, and as always, attended Jared's football game. Jared hates football!! He has no interest whatsoever in it and his coach's know this. Due to his hate for the game, he usually only plays his mandatory 4 plays per half and that's all. Needless to say, Steve doesn't attend many of his games...not enough action. And that's okay, he stays home with the baby. Anyways, today was the first day of playoffs...single elimination, so we knew it would be an exciting one. Jared's team lost...they're out of the playoffs. He and I were feeling a bit blue about it but were quickly cheered up when we saw this in front of us...Yes, that would be a man up there in that palm tree. I'd say about 50 ft up, if not more. We thought it would be something that lots of you don't see on a regular basis so we snapped a shot and off we went to grab lunch. Got back just in time for Justins game. Now Justin on the other hand, loves football. He eats, sleeps, and breathes it. Due to his love of the game, he usually plays offense and defense and gets ALOT of playing time. Other than a the definition of a touchdown, I don't know anything about football. So don't ask me what he was playing or doing but next thing I knew one of the moms was yelling "where's the medic?! Get her over here!!" I look up and it is Justin who needs the medic. He hurt his wrist. After assessing him, she said it was probably torn ligaments or tendens. But after a while, Steve thought I should take him into the ER, so I did and sure enough, he's got a fractured wrist. Now in most families, the excitement would end there, right. But as we all know, us Wrights aren't "most" families and so the craziness continues!! While in the ER, I started having a really hard time breathing. As time went on it was becoming harder and harder to breathe and I was coughing an awful lot. One of the nurse's thought I should check in and be seen since we were already there. So I did. Next thing I know, they're putting me in a gown, doing chest x-rays, breathing treatments, putting oxygen on me, giving me steroids, etc. Needless to say, I was in the midst of an asthma attack (didn't even know I had asthma...seriously). Poor Justin, he was discharged without me and had to sign his own discharge papers. Then, had to sit there and wait for me. Luckily, I was able to go home after a few hours and here I sit blogging about it. What a day, huh? Only in the Wright house...
