Minivan Mama

For many years I was a minivan mama. I got my first minivan back in 1999 and I drove one up until December 2008. I started with the Ford Windstar and liked it so much I bought another one. Then in 2006 I switched over to the Honda Odyssey...the cadillac of minivans!! I loved it. Often times I was teased by my close friends for actually wanting to drive a minivan. I was never embarassed and never, ever did I feel like I had to drive an SUV because everyone else had one. And then we were forced to downsize to just 1 vehicle (which is a whole other topic) and the vehicle that we ended up keeping was the one that was paid for. In our case that was a full size truck. I feel it is very comparable in size to an SUV. Now, since we're both jobless I don't feel like we drive too often but yesterday while sitting at QT filling up yet again I thought to myself "I am so sick of spending money on gas...especially for this guzzler!!" First of all, I feel no "cooler" because I'm not driving a minivan and secondly, who the heck wants to spend this much in gas just because it's a "cooler" vehicle than a minivan? NOT ME!!!
I can't wait to be a minivan mama again someday.

F&E

I'll be the first to admit that when Fresh and Easy made there debut here in the valley I was so unimpressed. I couldn't understand what all the hype was about. But since they sent out $5 off of a $20 purchase I decided I would take a shot at it. I am not kidding when I tell you that I struggled to hit that $20 mark. I was not about to pay for bananas that were individually priced or a 4 pack of apples. Us Wrights buy things by the case!! And 4 apples would last about 20 seconds in this house. So I bought a bunch of stuff I didn't need and maybe 1 thing that I did, saved my 5 bucks and left. And I never went back...UNTIL I moved out here to Timbuktu and right on my main cross streets sat a Fresh and Easy! After about a month or 2 of living here and passing it on a daily basis I decided to go back...give it a 2nd try because I'm nice like that. And lo and behold, I LOVED IT!!! They are really just as cheap as any other place on a lot of their stuff and honestly, their stuff is so fresh!! I am addicted to their fresh pizza dough...no preservatives...all you do is roll it out...1 DER FULL!! They also sell the best chocolate for dipping as I think I've pointed out before. Their yeast is cheaper than anyone else's (except Costco). But the one reason I frequent that place as much as I do is for these....You will not find better Cashews than these bad boys!! Not at Sprouts, not at Sunflower, and definitely not in a planters can at Wal-mart! I've had lots of company in the last 6 months and ALL of them have tried and fallen in love with these cashews!! Now, go and get yourself a bag!! You'll be glad you did!

a great loss

The Santa Rita Senoritas suffered their first loss tonight. Though this is not how they intended to end their season, they did not let it get them down. They still played like champs and gave their fans quite a performance. With winds of over 20 mph, Juliet was still throwing strikes like there was no tomorrow. And with almost every hit there was a play sure to make even the other teams fans cheer. Such as the line drive Jolene caught at 2nd base...good enough even to impress her teenage son and friends. Then there was Shannon who, like always, didn't let anything get past her at 1st base. We had Katie who caught an awesome pop-fly in center field and yes, I even caught a few. Of course we all know I'm not a bragger so no one will think of me as one when I mention the 2 awesome plays Keri and I got at 3rd where she stopped the ball and threw it off to me to get the girls out at 3rd...not our most graceful moments but definitely effective!! I believe coach Jobe would have been proud!! This awesomeness didn't stop in the field...no...it continued to flow out of our bodies at batting time too. Of course Liz slammed them out in the outfield every time she went up to bat. Grandma Gail hit awesome and though Julie O couldn't run she was making it quite easy for her pinch runners to get on base. All in all we played good...just not good enough. It was fun though and as stated in prior post, our hair looked good in the end...and thats all that really matters!!
Oh, and for those of you that are wondering...yes, there is an imprint of the softball on both of my inner thighs...but it was worth it..don't you think?

Oxy Clean - I love this stuff!! You'd think by now they would have an "H E" edition.
Windex - Love, Love, Love Windex...it truly is the only streak free stuff I've found.
Bar Keepers Friend - Julie Wright's friend too!! works wonders on flat top stoves.
Comet w/ Bleach - Love it!! This is how I keep my tubs white. Sprinkle it in the tub when wet, let it sit for 10+ minutes and scrub with a brush...looks good and smells even better!!
Lysol All Purpose (Lemon Scent) - great for mopping...this too, smells sooo good...fresh and clean!
Can anyone guess what I did this weekend??
